In the spirit of Musa Juma…here is a powerful rendition of ‘Hera Mwandu” by Benga Africa. The guy on the lead guitar is non other than Ian “Nyathi Otenga” . Also fondly known as the “The Kenyan American”...........Ian is a 'hands on" musicologist and has greatly influenced Benga music in the USA. What an extraordinary effort!
This video was a part of the Nyakach dance in New Jersey/New York with Nyathi Otenga on lead, Freddy Coly on rythm ',Nyakwar Rayuer on bass and Nyakwar Duka on vocals and drums....Hera Mwandu

Thanks for the kind words Omondi and bengaking. It is an honor to play with those guys their skill and roots in benga runs deep and we are lucky to have them in the US. I am really excited that the forum has come together and look forward to an exchange of knowledge on this music, it is long overdue. Long live benga!
